How to Avoid Missing Opportunities in 1 Easy Step

This one is truly mind blowing.

Your life will change once you embrace it and I’m not just blowing smoke here.

So what is this life-altering tip?

See EVERYTHING as an opportunity.

That’s it.

This is a mindset thing I’m talking about here.  Any number of people can face a similar situation, but it’s their mindset that changes the way they react and feel.

Every person you meet, every email you receive, every left versus right turn provides you an opportunity if you look.

Every break-up, fight, birthday, layoff, hard choice has a purpose.

You do have two choices.

Choice #1

Go on autopilot and let your emotions and subconscious control the show. This will probably lead to a lot of unnecessary stress/worry/tears/heartache/etc.  It is not necessary the pleasant route to take, but it is usually the knee jerk reaction.  This is the type of choice that ends dragging situations out for much longer than they need to be drawn out.

Choice #2

See the opportunity.  This is the choice to stop, take a breath and reframe the situation in a positive light.  Question your emotions and thoughts.  Take back control.  Acknowledge the worry/stress/emotion and then move forward.

Which do you want to choose?

It is possible to say, “Well, this sucks, now what can I learn?” or “How can I use this situation to get me in the direction of my goals?”  “What is the Universe trying to tell me?”

Francis Bacon sums this point up brilliantly:

“A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.”
Francis Bacon, The Essays

There is no need to wait for “Opportunity to Knock” or to see “Blessings in Disguise” when you look at the world through the lens of opportunity.  It will always be in front of your eyes.

In fact, it is, I guarantee you.

Opportunity is everywhere around you, just waiting to be recognized.  It may be buried or hidden, or looking so strange you have to tilt your head and squint your right eye (if that doesn’t work, try the left).

It is truly amazing what will happen for you if you can start to make this shift.

Suddenly, you will also become much more positive and gratitude will flow through you. You will begin to notice all kinds of amazing things around you and coming to you.

Little things in life will begin to take on a much different light.  You may find 5 dollars in your pocket or the meter will be running with an extra hour.  Your normal bus route was late, but then it gets stuck in a traffic jam, the new route turns out to be faster!

The Universe is beginning to work in your favor, returning the positivity that you are sending out into the world.

As always, this is not an overnight fix.

Sometimes you need to stop and take a deep breath before you can even think about looking the scary scenario in the face, let alone looking at it as an opportunity.

And that is perfectly reasonable and normal.

Do me a quick favor and remember to take a deep breath.  Come back to the present moment. Go back and read my post Using Mind Control… On Yourself or How to Harness Fear in 3 Steps if you have some time.

After that deep breath, challenge yourself to see the situation in another way. I’m willing to bet if you work at it, you’ll be able to see three or four opportunities.

Remember what Bacon said?

Create those opportunities for yourself again and again.

Your life is going to open up, I know it!
